Ok, so does that mean that there is no association between cornrows and Black culture? Using a google image machine and clicking the image tag will prove such an association, btw.

Further, having the oldest KNOWN (key word) depiction (thanks, Wikipedia!) doesn't tell us anything about provenance - and what I'm talking about here isn't necessarily the provenance of cornrows.
